Biography
The Full Story
I started acting professionally in my 50’s. Why didn’t I do it sooner? I had a lot of healing to do. I love being from New York City, it’s such an exciting place, and I was scouted as an outgoing toddler. However my life was impacted by incest, the abuser was my father. I left home at 17 and spent six months living on the streets. I began a lifelong yoga practice as a teen. Yoga and recovery therapy brought me peace and I came late to studying dramatics. I’ve found acting to be one of the best experiences of my life. Passionate since my first workshop, I’m committed to this journey.
For more than a decade I’ve been pursuing my dream, I’m still here.
Living in the LA area and being a SAG-AFTRA actor helps me to stay in touch with the industry. I see many plays each year because I love theatre.
In the first six months of this year I will complete a short video project. This comedy, Letter Carrier is an example of my acting and writing.
By this time next year my goal is to be cast in several roles where I can continue my work.
I see myself as under-utilized, other actors similar to me who are working more have ethnic and linguistic attributes different from mine that are more in demand. I feel that if I have the opportunity I too will be seen as having something to contribute.
I have a slight New York accent, I don’t dance or sing, I’m not multi-linguistic. I am a natural, organic actor, people constantly tell me that they think I am the character when they see my work.
